What is SWITCH?

SWITCH is an evidence-based, childhood obesity prevention program (www.iowaswitch.org). The goal of the program is to enable children to “Switch what they DO, VIEW, and CHEW. Specifically, the program is designed to help children to get ≥ 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, to reduce screen time to < 2 hours a day, and to consume ≥ 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
The original SWITCH program reaches parents through schools to enable and reinforce the “DO, VIEW, and CHEW” behaviors. The SWITCH team has recently enhanced the SWITCH program by moving all the content materials online and by creating a robust content management system that allows schools to manage their own program (See www.iowaswitch.org).
Iowa FITNESSGRAM Schools are able to enroll in the program for free AND a limited number of sites would be able to receive a free kit of promotional Switch resources to help you run the program. Visit www.IowaSwitch.org to find out more.
